Artist Statement

I make art that celebrates color, light, and life for people who value beauty and simplicity in the world around them and want to experience the joy of finding something good there.

I work primarily with oil paint but also enjoy drawing, watercolor, collage, and mixed media. Inspired by travel, nature, and connection with people and with God, I squeeze the joy out of paint tubes and spread it on canvases so I can share it with people like you. Thanks for being here.

Bio

I began painting sets for a local theater in 2006 as a parent volunteer at the Actors Conservatory Theater in Lewisville, Texas. I found I had a natural ability to bring the stage to life with each new scene. Covering walls 12 x 45 feet with a deadline was excellent training and extremely rewarding. In 2008, I began to paint large canvases, mostly with acrylic paint, and to explore the use of stained glass imagery to bring parables to life on canvas. I became a member of the Visual Art League in Lewisville, Texas, taking classes, participating in workshops and art shows, and learning from experienced artists in the community.

My Studio

In 2012, I began to explore my true painting love… using palette knives with oils. I study Oil painting with Dominique Johnson at A Touch of Paris Gallery in Grapevine, Texas, and have also benefited greatly from the teaching of several other modern impressionist artists I admire. Spending a week in Roussillon, France, in 2025 taking a plein air course by Adam Cope was also extremely transformative. I brought home loads of inspiration, paintings, and a new love for capturing light while painting outdoors.

Now, I work out of my studio in Denton, Texas. Curiosity has been my faithful companion through this journey, allowing me to explore, experiment, and always continue learning and growing as an artist. I have found that the resources you need to become a fantastic artist are out there. Anything is possible if you are willing to put in the work and time to practice your gifts. It is my hope to encourage new artists in that process and engage in my gifts in ways that bring glory to my God.
